Camp SpongeBob

장소: in Bikini Bottom

등장인물: SpongeBob, Sandy, Patrick, Squidward

줄거리: 어느날 스펀지밥은 샌디가 무술을 하는 모습을 본다. 그리고 샌다가 무술 캠프에서 처음 무술을 배웠다는 사실을 알게 된다. 샌디와 달리 스펀지밥은 어렸을 때에 한번도 캠프에 가 본적이 없었다. 다만 여름 방학에 할머니 댁에서 할머니가 마치 캠프 지도자인 것 처럼 행동했을 뿐이다. 이를 안타깝게 생각한 샌드는 자신들이 Bikini Bottom의 첫 여름 캠프를 열자고 제안한다. 샌디, 패트릭, 스퀴이드워드가 각각 지도작 역할을 하고 스펀지밥이 조수가 되는 것이다. 이에 매우 신이난 스펀지밥은 캠프 준비에 과도하게 집착하여 친구들을 힘들게 한다. 단지 즐기기 위해서 캠프를 여는 것인데 스펀지밥은 자신의 캠프가 완벽해야 한다고 생각한다. 다른 친구들이 힘들어 하자 샌디는 해결방안을 내 놓는다. 첫 camper를 스펀지밥으로 초대하는 것이다. 스펀지밥은 조수가 아닌 camper역할에 조금 당황했지만 결국에는기뻐한다. 


생각 해보기

  • 만약 내가 샌디라면 나는 어떤 해결책을 내 놓았을까?

  • 정식 캠프를 처음 경험하는 스펀지밥은 캠프에 대해 어떻게 생각하게 될까?

  • 나는 어떤 캠프를 가본적이 있는가? 나는 그곳에서 어떤 것을 배우고 캠프에 대해 어떤 감정을 가지고 있는가?

  • 만약 내가 캠프를 준비한다면 나는 어떤 것을 아이들에게 가르칠 수 있는가?

  • 내가 좋아하고 잘하는 것은 무엇인가?


Sandy spent the morning practicing her new karate moves.

 

“Where did you first learn karate anyway?” SpongeBob asked.

 

Sandy told her friend about her days at Master Kim’s Karate Camp.

 

Sandy finished breathlessly. 숨을 헐떡이며

 

“let’s open Bikini Bottom’s first summer camp. You can be my assistant.”

 

 “I would pretend she was my counselor, but I am not sure she was cut out for camp life,” SpongeBob said, sighing.

  • Cut out for ~에 어울리다.

 

Perhaps I could teach the kids around here a thing or two.

  • a thing or two = many things

 

Everyone would look up to me.

  • look up to = respect

 

in the best mood ever

 

peeked = look quickly


Gary slithered over to SpongeBob’s bed and meowed. 미끄러져 가다.

 

“Camping assistants need to be strong!” he reminded himself as he flexed his muscles.

  • Flex: 구부리다.

 

SpongeBob went back to see Sandy, who was working on her karate moves.

  • working on = practicing

 

“Go for it, SpongeBob,” said Sandy.

힘내!

 

“Take a load off and have some lemonade,” suggested Sandy.

  • Take a load off = rest

 

“You are acting nuttier than a bag of walnuts at the county fair. This camp is supposed to be fun.”

더 어리석게 행동하고 있다.

 

“What are we going to do about SpongeBob?” asked Squidward.

~에 대해서는 우리가 어떻게 할까요?

 

“I refuse to be ordered around by him anymore”

 

“I have just the thing for the little guy,” said Sandy

= I know how to fix this situation.

 

To express our gratitude for all your hard work, we have a small present for you.

  • express our gratitude = Say thank you

 

“We would like you to be the very first camper,” said Sandy.

“We were all so busy preparing for camp that we never advertised for campers! You are our first and only camper!” exclaimed Sandy.
