The Trouble with Samson

1. Problem Puppy

Grundy가족은 Samson이라는 개를 가지게 되었다. 이들은 원래 개를 원하기는 했지만 Samson은 사람처럼 행동하며 너무 말썽을 많이 피웠다. 그래서 아이들은 이를 해결하기 위해 무언가를 해야 한다고 결정했다.

Andy was used to Samson's face in his cornflakes.

But when the fleas moved into Sandy's sock drawer, enough was enough.

2. At Obedience School

Samson을 아이들이 직접 훈련시키는 일은 번번히 실패한다. 그래서 Candy는 Samson를 훈련학교에 보낸다. 그러나 훈련학교도 Samson에게는 소용이 없었다.

They threw sticks. But they were the ones who had to fetch them.

fetch 가지고 오다. = get

"I'll make a dog of him!" said Sandy sternly.

3. Camping Puppy

Candy의 의견이 실패로 끝나자 Andy가 다른 의견을 낸다. Samson과 함께 야영을 하는 것이다. 그러나 야영도 Samson의 문제행동을 고칠수 없었다.

They breathed the fresh air and cooked over an open fire.

4. Stray Puppy

Andy의 계획이 실패로 끝난걸 보고 Candy는 Samson에게 친구가 필요하다고 생각한다. 그래서 어느날 떠돌이개를 집으로 데려온다. 

Andy held his nose and opened the door.

5. Puppy Love

Samson에게 같이 다닐 친구가 생긴 이후로 그는 아이들을 따라다니거나 귀찮게 하지 않았다. Samson에게는 훈련이나 야영아 아닌 함께한 동료들이 필요했던 것이다.

Samson kept munching on corn chips.

Poor Andy shivered by the fire.

One day, Candy brought home a stray.

• whiff: 공기를 통해 오는 약한 냄새

There was no answer, just a whiff of something yucky.

"Samson just wanted some company."
