Best Friends Wear Pink Tutus

줄거리

발레를 함께 배우는 두 친구의 이야기. 이들은 호두까기 인형 공연을 위해 배역을 놓고 겨룬다. 둘 다 주인공 배역을 맡고 싶기 때문이다. 그러나 친구를 위해 일부러 선발시험에서 실수를 한다. 결국 주인공은 이들보다 나이가 많은 다른 친구가 맡는다. 그리고 이들은 눈꽃 배역을 맡는다. 주인공은 아니지만 이들은 서로 같은 배역을 맡게 되어서 기뻐한다.

Our ballet class is going to dance The Nutcracker.

• The Nutcracker: 주인공 Marie가 크리스마스 저녁에 호뚜까기 인형을 선물로 받음. 그 인형이 꿈속에서 쥐들을 물리치고 멋진 왕자로 변신하여 Marie를 과자의 나라로 안내하는 내용의 발레.

 

Each student will try out for a part.

Our teacher, Miss Yvonne, will decide who gets it.

 

Marie doesn’t get to wear a pink tutu, but she is the star of the show.

 

Miss Yvonne says there can be one Marie.

 

For the tryouts, we decide not to be best friends.

We warm up at opposite sides of the room.

 

“Pretend you are Marie and show me how you would dance for your new Nutcracker doll,”

 

Emily is dancing very well. I think she may get the part. 배역

 

Emily acts dizzy and wobbles. That’s odd. Spinning never made her dizzy before.

 

I point my toes like a real ballerina. Then I see Emily. I kick the doll over on purpose. Oops! It’s not time for the Nutcracker to lose his head yet!

 

Amanda and Emily will be snowflakes in ‘The Snowflacke Waltz’,” says Miss Yvonne.

 

We know we dance better when we are best friends.

 

Anyway, we would rather be snowflakes.
