루나는 밤하늘을 좋아하는 새로운 전학생이다. 그녀는 학급으로 각 학생들의 가족을 초대하는 자리에서 ‘밤하늘 서커스’를 했으면 좋겠다고 의견을 낸다. 그러나 친구들은 ‘밤하늘’에는 관심이 없고 ‘서커스’에만 관심을 둔다. 다수의 의견을 따라 루나의 반은 ‘보통의 서커스’를 준비한다. 그러나 다른 반과 종목이 겹치면서 ‘밤하늘 서커스’를 진행하기로 한다. 루나는 자신의 의견이 무시당할 때는 잠시 ‘하늘’과 관련된 그녀의 물건들을 다 치워 버리기도 했다. 그러나 ‘밤하늘 서커스’를 마치면서 그녀는 뿌듯함을 느끼고, 자신의 의견에 귀 기울여 준 선생님이 2학년의 최고의 선생님이라고 생각한다.

She took a deep breath and smiled.

The midnight circus begins.

The man in the moon leads the way as the star performers move in.

For one whole hour, Luna’s class turned Room 75 into a midnight circus.
