Roscoe Riley는 Emma의 tap shoes를 보고 자신도 tap dance를 배우고 싶다고 생각한다. 하지만 Wyatt이 남자 애들은 tap dance를 추지 않는 다는 비웃음에 주춤한다. 그리고 tap dance studio에 갔을 때는 자신을 제외한 모든 학생들이 여자라는 사실에 약간의 혼란을 느끼기다가, talent show를 하는 날에는 상급반 학생들이 tap dance를 연습하는 자신을 보고 비웃자 다리는 다쳤다고 거짓말을 하여 talent show를 나가지 않는 방법을 사용한다. 같이 연습한 Emma에게 약간의 죄책감은 느끼지만 talent show에서 tap dance를 췄다가 비웃음을 당하는 게 두려웠던 거다. 하지만 결국에는 Emma가 춤추는 중간에 tap shoes를 신고 신나게 tap dance를 춘다. 그리고 그런 그의 모습을 보고 talent show이 후에 다른 남자 아이들도 tap dance를 배우려는 마음을 먹는다. 초등학교 아이들이 고민할 수 있는 내용을 유쾌하고 교육적으로 풀어낸 책인 것 같다.
