The magic school bus_show and tell

The magic school bus는 과학적 지식을 알려줄 뿐만 아니라 과학적으로 사고 하는 방법도 알려줘서 유익한 것 같다. 과학을 이렇게 재미있고 쉽게 설명할 수 있는 작가의 능력이 놀라울 따름이다. 가설이 여러 단서들(clues)을 모아 훌륭한 추측(guess)을 하는 것이라고 설명할 수 있다니 이보다 더 간단명료할 수 있을까! 

Our class really digs having Ms. Frizzle for a teacher.

 

The only problem was, Arnold was nowhere to be found.

 

We were beginning to panic when in raced Arnold.

 

Is this great or what?

 

I’ve spent the last two weeks digging up rock information.

 

You’re just in time!

 

When in doubt, figure it out!

The first thing we figured out was that Arnold found the hoop in a trunk that belonged to his great-aunt.

She’d figured out how people lived based on the stuff she found.

She never figured it out.

 

Just then, Ms. Frizzle got that gleam in her eyes.

 

If you’re talking about a field trip, we can’t go now! What about the show? We’re about to go on!

 

Unless I can TELL everybody what your Aaunt Joan found, there is no show!

 

So how do we figure out what this hoop is for if the people who used it aren’t around to tell us?

 

But we still couldn’t figure out why s1 made the hoop.

 

Then, Ms. Frizzle told us that we’d have to guess the reason!

 

Archaeologists put clues together and make a guess. They call that guess a hypothesis.

 

And there had to be people living there! Somebody must have made it!

 

Ralphie’s guess was good, but we didn’t know how to find out whether or not his guess was right.

 

Paddling downstream, we noticed that the water was full of fish.

 

We made it through the rapids safely. But we still hadn’t figured out what the hoop was.

When you think about it, why would they give this hoop all these beautiful colors if they were just going to stick it in the water?

 

Dorothy Ann agreed that the hoop could have been a hat.

 

The more Keesha danced, the more the hoop slipped off her head.

 

We started to think we’d never figure it out!

 

And from objects like this, we can figure out how ppl lived their lives if you know how to read the clues.

 

Then we noticed that the rim of the hoop was worn down.

 

Pretend you’re paddling along a river, trying to catch fish. U sweep the water. Then realized you better get a paddle that doesn’t leak!

 

But as he chased the rolling hoop, he suddenly figured it out!
