1. The plot on the Pyramid

책 반납 기한 때문에 급하게 훑어 보기만 한 책. 피라미드를 만들기 위해서 일꾼으로 희생되었던 사람들 이야기.

Akhet: "I mean it's the time of the year - Akhet. The time when the river rises. It floods our fields and makes the corn grow. Akhet brings us food."

"When Akhet comes we can't work in the fields. So we get days like today. Peaceful days," she sighed.

"Yes, Daddy is working on the pyramid for the King. Most of the men of Lisht are helping to build it because they can't work in the fields at Akhet."

King Amenemhat /아메넴헷/

"King Amenemhat is our god, you know. He makes the river flood the fields and makes the corn grow. That's why we are building Amenemhat a huge pyramid. Build Amenemhat another pyramid," she said.

2. The magic and the Mummy

미라를 만드는 이야기?

His shaved head glowed in the golden light of the oil lamps and he looked like a god.

"The cat would pinch it!" the little boy said. "Or the jackals would come in from the desert and gobble it up."

"The House of Death is not the place you go to die, my son. It is the place you go after you are dead... at least the place the great people of Egypt go when they are dead."

"People like us would be like pieces of meat when we died. We'd rot and smell and be eaten by maggots. That's why we have to turn people into mummies."

3. The gold in the grave

Tutankhamen(투탄가멘)의 무덤에 대한 이야기. 주인공들은 Tutankhamen의 무덤을 도굴하려다가 발각된다.

4. The phantom and the fisherman

이집트 시대의 좋은 직업 중의 하나인 scribes에 대한 이야기.
