Monster Bug

Step into reading 3단계 책에 비해서는 난이도가 있다고 느꼈다. 그래서 사전을 더 많이 활용한 것 같다. 처음에는 어렵고 지루하게 느꼈지만 단어의 의미를 찾아 반복해서 읽다보면 유익하다고 느껴지는 책이었다. 구성은 세상에서 가장 강하거나 사나운 곤충(bug)을 소개하고 그 곤충의 적을 소개하는 형식이다. 그리고 맨 마지막에는 그렇게 무섭게 생긴 곤충이지만 그들은 우리를 해치치 않는다고 말한다. 오히려 곤충들은 사람들의 삶에 도움을 주는 귀중한 존재들이라는 사실을 일깨워준다.

A tarantula’s worst enemy is a fierce wasp called a tarantula hawk.

The spider tries to fight off the wasp. But the wasp darts in and stings it. 안으로 돌진하여 그것을 찌르다.

After the egg hatches, the baby wasp eats the tarantula alive.

Most bugs won’t hurt you. Bugs are important. They are food for many other creatures. And they help trees and flowers grow. Bugs keep our planet clean by eating dead plants and animals. We couldn’t live without bugs – even the biggest, scariest monster bugs!
