The Berenstain bears 시리즈는 늘 어렵다고 생각했다. 그러나 an I can read book에서 나온 The Berenstain bears 시리즈는 비교적 쉬운 어휘들을 사용하여 쉽게 구성 되어있다. 더욱이 미국 이야기 책에는 종종 야구 이야기가 나오는데 야구에서 사용되는 어휘가 낯설어서 힘든 적이 많았다. 그런데 오늘 읽은 Play T-Ball에서는 야구 용어를 유쾌하게 소개해 주어서 유익했다.
표현
Cardinals: bright red feathers를 가진, a North American bird.
Mr. Gump was the ump. = umpire 심판
“Batter up!” 치다. 공격하다.
A Bluebird player tagged him with the ball.
*야구에서 runner를 out시키다.
But that is not what out means in T-ball.
You mean I’m out of the game?
The score was Bluebirds 27, Cardinals 26.
Coach Brother and Coach Sister learned a good lesson.
They learned that jumping on your hat never taught anybody anything.
