Miss Daisy is crazy!

 빨려 들어갈 만큼 재미있지는 않았지만, 읽지도 못하고 산수도 못한다고 말하는 Miss Daisy 선생님의 능청스러움은 재미있었다. 역시 사람은 지혜로워야 하나보다.

 

But that smarty-pants-I-know-everything-girl Andrea Young beat me to it and got called on first. ~가 선수를 쳤다.

Principal Klutz must have felt bad that we didn’t think his joke was funny, because he invited us all up to the front of the room to touch his bald head.

 

Maybe she’s an impostor.

Somebody who imposts? 과세하기 위해 부과하다.

 

“I think you’re the one who’s crazy.” Andrea giggled, choking on her milk. 에 기도가 막히다.

Or she could be a horse thief or a cattle rustler or somebody who parks where there is a yellow line on the curb.

I made a beeline for the monkey bars. 곧장 ~로 가다

She wouldn’t let us play with her magic ruler, but Mrs. Cooney ran around measuring everything. 바쁘게 움직이며 다니다.

Look! My head is almost two feet n circumference!

 

That’s a vegetarian. A veterinarian is somebody who fought in a war.

But for once, I knew she was wrong. 그러나 이번만큼은

We tacked the posters up all over Main Street.

Miss Lazar, the custodian, said we could put some up in the lunchroom and the bathrooms.

Kids were plowing their way through books and then running to the school library to ask Mrs. Roopy if they could check out more.

*plow: force your way although it is difficult (땅을 갈거나 책을 읽어 나갈 때 쓰는 것 같음)

 

He was really big and had so many muscles that they poked right against his shirt!

*poke: push a finger or other object into s1/sth

 

Do you like knocking guys on their butt?

* knock: forcefully hit, and cause to move or fall

 

I think that by the end of the year, if the whole class works together, we just might bring her up to second-grade level.
